It’s Time Your Old Man Told You the Truth…
Didn’t I tell you I would talk to you again this week?
First off, I won’t see you until next week so I’ll go ahead and say it: “Merry Christmas!”
This week I got a chance to talk with someone who I’ve looked up to a lot for the last 10 years. I spent a lot of my high school life watching his videos and thinking he was a genius content creator.
Our call was humbling and honoring because I could tell he was listening to what I had to say about short form video. I was helping him make important decisions with his content. This was the coolest moment I’ve had in awhile with my journey.
But he mentioned something… He wants to “niche down” with his content.
I used to think this way too. I used to think if I perfectly niched my content into a specific category, that I could then OWN that category. I would be the expert and be able to stand out among my peers. All of my failure from creating content was coming from my lack of niching down.
Sweet child, this is not true.
I want to share with you EXACTLY how you get seen by your ideal audience with short form video.
The Popularity Gate
Let’s be real. Your IDEAL customer profile is a very small portion of the general public. But they will most likely only see your video IF it “goes viral.” It’s practically impossible for them to see your video that’s stuck at 200-500 views.
So how do you make content that goes viral and gets seen by your ideal customer?
You have to make viral content… (lol duh)
Okay but like, what IS that??
Well that’s the question we are all trying to answer: What is “viral” content?
Well I’ll tell you: It’s something that can be shared.
You know what gets shared? Videos that are either REALLY entertaining, REALLY relatable, or both.
STOP niching down.
Make content that makes you relatable to a broad crowd. The more you focus on getting views, the more likely you will be seen by your ideal audience.
But how do you ACTUALLY do that? How do you make content that can be relatable to a young crowd?
Well, looks like you’ll have to wait until next week (;
