Short Form Secrets

The Home Page

Proof that YouTube is INVESTING in Shorts

The Home Page

Yo Reader!

A few years ago, YouTube decided to change how they get us to watch videos.

We used to watch things that were either:

  • On the LITERAL “Trending” Page (when’s the last time you even checked it?)
  • From channels we “Subscribed” to

Some of those still matter… but not as much.

The Home Page recommendation took over and now a fancy schmancy AI algorithm determines what we WANT to watch based off our Watch History and Click Through Rate (and a whole bunch of other YouTuber mumbo jumbo).

Needless to say: The Home Page is a sacred space for YouTube HQ.

And guess what takes up the majority of your screen while scrolling via mobile?

YouTube Shorts.

But this is how I interpret this:

YouTube wants to WIN the “Short Form Battle”

YouTube wants:

  • TikTok to go back to China
  • Reels to be irrelevant
  • Everyone to use YouTube

And when they want to win, they will INVEST in what is needed to win.

YouTube Shorts is still SUUUPER underrated and not many people are using it correctly.

Hopefully this newsletter can help you figure this out.

Catch yah on the flippity flipside
