Short Form Secrets

Yes, You Still Need to Think About Thumbnails

Don’t Ignore Thumbnails

Yo Reader,

Chances are, you don’t think about a thumbnail when making a Short. Which is understandable since most views come from the Shorts feed.

HOWEVER

You should always be striving towards showing up on “Recommended” — meaning, the front page of YouTube.

A lot of people I subscribe to make it on this page… and I’m sure your videos are appearing on this page as well.

BUT MOST OF YOU SUCK AT GETTING CLICKS, which will then WASTE the impressions that YouTube is giving you fo’ FREE.

(i.e. you’re leaving views on the table and wasting an opportunity)

If your video can get someone to click, YouTube is going to like this because it kicks off a viewer’s session time in Shorts… BIG W

But How?

Let me teach you, young padawan.

You’re gonna need to think through your first FRAME of the video.

Not just the hook. Noooo no. The hook is the first 3 SECONDS.

You need to think about the FIRST FRAME of your vid.

Does the first frame have all the necessary info the viewer needs in order to understand WHAT the video is about and WHAT the payoff is at the end?

If you get it — carry on.

If you need a better explanation, I recorded a 5 min video that breaks this down completely.

See you tomorrow,

Dino
